Bali is a serious temptation for those loving the sea, nature, and culture. After their 3rd or more visits to Bali, people will fall to this island and want to come back as the best place to enjoy the rest of life. Here are some tips for making yourself a home in Bali.

Location

In every part of this world, location is the key point to have home sweet home. Don’t look the surroundings once you see the property or land. But think a bit far. Is this island or property potential in the future? What this area will be? How about the access road?or zoning regulations? Near the sea shore or in the heart of rice field? Generally, all part of Bali is a great location but there is a big potential area on the south-east-coastal strip. Check it.

Reputable Legal Assistance

In the island where you don’t know in details about the culture, the environment, the habit, you really need the assistance of legal company who can give you an advice. Or at least they can give their opinion about an area in the future. There are many reputable property agents in Bali who can help you. Read carefully the profile and check them and find one that suits you. Remember check first their profile before deciding.

Purposes

It is very important that you understand well the purpose of building a home in Bali. Do you want to run business in renting a villa and such thing like that? Or you would like to build a house for your retirement place? Or you want to move to Bali forever?

Embrace the Local Value and The Government’s Rule

Don’t try to avoid government rule regarding the property trade in Bali. Your legal assistance should know it and forbid you to launch something to avoid this country’s rule. The subtitle also means that you should know the Balinese culture and habit, so when you finally build your home there you have already know the situation and the people.

Legal Document

Once you decided to buy a property please make sure about the legal transaction with proper certificate, sales and purchase agreement, and etc in a line with government’s rule and regulation. As it is a mandatory.

Three main holidays from three different religions will appear on December. Surely, as the community who tolerate other religions’ , Balinese will respect any and hope everything will go smooth. December this year will be also filled by various festal events to welcome New Year 2011. Take a jaunt to Bali and experience the festal celebration of life!

Some people recognize this name as a unique village situated in Bangli regency in which the dead body is simply put under the Trunyan trees. No cremation, no burial, just let the earth change the dead body to be it should be and the soft fragrant Truyan tree surprisingly sweep away the bad smell of the dead body. Actually, it is not the only unique thing. Trunyan conceals other unique things named Batara Datonta and Barong Brutuk.

This statue which is considered as stone-age relic has a vivid carving especially on the face. The right hand is flexed on the axe above its shoulder; looks like he wants to stab somebody with the axe. Further Datonta’s penis dangles downward in which a hole-a symbol of vagina- is there below the penis. It is not a nasty talk. Hindu community believes that Lingga-Yoni or a symbol of Adam-Eve is the vital part in human life.

November is considered as rainy month that some tourists who crave to spend holiday in a beach may face disappointment. Indeed, due to climate change, the weather is hardly to be predicted. For some days harsh rain may occur but in the days before and after, it could be very lovely sunny. It is suggested not to plan to spend whole holiday in a beach in rainy season. Besides, Bali is not all about beach, right? What people really need to do in Bali just relax and do…. nothing. However, in case you would like to take a look, the information below may be useful.

November, 13th 2010

Tumpek Uduh/Tumpek Pengarah/Tumpek Wariga

On this day, Balinese devote to Sanghyang Sangkara, a god of plants to celebrate the birthday of plants. Essentially, this day is the day when a message to take care of plants is spread in Bali. Besides, Balinese also instruct to the trees to provide a lot fruits as Galungan and Kuningan day is 25 days left. How? By tapping each tree three times and say that Galungan and Kuningan is only 25 days left then pray that the tree will provides so much fruits.

October is usually the beginning part of rainy season in Indonesia but with the global warming it seems hard to predict. Anyway, my prediction is; it will still be bright sunny in October just like a year ago. This fact is an advantageous point if you come to Bali on October besides October is a low season that you will get the cheapest rate of Bali accommodation and October is the right month to enjoy some attractions described well in the following agenda.

Hundreds of years ago, some areas of Indonesia were still under the reign of King. Each region in Indonesia has its kingdom for instance: Kasultanan Yogyakarta (Yogyakarta), Kasultanan Gowa (South Sulawesi), Puri Klungkung (East Bali), and so forth. Since August 17th 1945 Indonesia has been a sovereign state and is led by a president; nevertheless the kings of those kingdoms are still exists and keep playing a role. Even, on October 10th 2010, Puri Klungkung held ‘Abhiseka Ratu’ to place Ir.Tjok Gde Agung Semaraputra in a throne as the new Klungkung King officially.

Starting in the mid 1980s, Lombok Island attracted world’s attention as an ‘unspoiled’ alternative to Bali. Lombok is a neighboring island of Bali exactly in the eastern side; both islands are separated by the Lombok Straits. This exotic Lombok could be reached through across Lombok Straits by boat or simply by airplane to Selaparang Airport, directly from Bali. Lombok Island belongs to West Nusa Tengara province in which its capital city is Mataram. Compared to Denpasar or Badung city in Bali, Mataram as capital city is still considered quiet.

85% of the inhabitants of Lombok are Sasak while 10-15% is Balinese and the rest is Chinese, Arab, Sumbawanese, and others. The island’s indigenous inhabitants Sasak are predominantly Muslim. Nevertheless the influence of Hindu and Buddhism came to Lombok already a long time ago. Although the major religion in Lombok is Muslim and the landscape is punctuated with mosques and minarets people in Lombok are fluent speaking Balinese.

Similar to Bali which relies heavily on tourism development, Lombok’s most important industry is tourism. Just like Kuta in Bali, Lombok also has the most developed tourist area named Senggigi containing a lot of tourist activities in the coastal tourism strip. At the first sight, the ambiance and its white sandy beach look like Kuta though Senggigi is smaller. This beach might be a diver’s paradise since the calm waves allowing them to dive and snorkel. No wonder, Lombok accommodations in this area are just like mushrooms in rainy season starting from cheap hotels to luxurious Lombok villas.

Senggigi is not the only one tourism destination. Take a look at the map and highlight to the Northwest of Lombok. There are three small Gili islands which are known broadly as serene places to unwind. Gili Trawangan is the biggest island and the most festal island amongst Gili Islands. The eastern part of Gili Trawangan is the busiest part where an array of professional dive center, beachfront private villas, and restaurants are easy to get.

Only beach? What else? Lombok houses the 2nd highest volcano in Indonesia, Mt. Rinjani, since it rises to 3,726 meters or equal 12,224 feet and the thirty ninth most prominent peak in the world. This mountain is so popular among the hikers. Even Mt Rinjani has a beautiful crater lake named Segara Anak which water is blue just like sea. If there is a traveler who would like to hike this mountain, complete equipment could be rented from various accommodations around it.

Taman Narmada is a destination in Lombok which is very well-known amongst Hindus even in Bali. Since Narmada refers to the kings resting place complex containing king bath, Hindu temples, and spring. This spring is not just a spring but a special one because the community and pilgrims believe that this spring can make people staying young. So no need an expensive anti-aging cream anymore, right? Well, you can believe it or not.

Lombok, Bali sister island, has been developed dramatically. For some people Lombok is more pristine and private than Bali. Although, its tourism area is smaller than Bali, Lombok is worth to visit for its white sandy beach, calm water for snorkeling, and peaceful area. Why not escape to Lombok and book one villa from our Lombok villas list?

What happens when a couple with a lifelong love of and deep roots in Indonesia decide to build a villa in Bali? Something magical is created and the villa becomes a special treasure with an indescribable aura to be shared and enjoyed with others. Enter the Longhouse and you cannot help but feel the affection and care that has gone into every detail.

The Nederkoorn family first came to Java in the late 1800’s when Robin’s grandfather worked as an engineer building the narrow gauge railway. Robin’s father, Thys, was born in Bandung in 1917 and in his early life worked as an officer for KPM, sailing between the small islands of east of Java. Robin himself was born in Singapore after Thys returned from his wartime naval commission with his new bride, Anne.

Fast forward to 1979. Robin and his American wife, Linda, arrive in Singapore with their baby daughter. From the time the young family came to Southeast Asia, they traveled extensively through the region, but particularly in Indonesia, where on several occasions the entire family accompanied Thys to revisit many of the far flung memories of his youth.

Of all the wonderful and exciting places that Linda and Robin had been, it was Bali that they chose in which to create their dream. Step into the Longhouse. From the early morning vision of the holy mountain, Gunung Agung, floating serenely on the horizon to punctuate the Longhouse’s celestial view, to the whispers of the gamelan floating up from the village below each evening, the Longhouse gently coaxes you into your own love affair with Bali and with Indonesia.

Art and artifacts throughout the villa beckon you to explore a world you may not know. Simply enjoy the beauty, or if you wish, learn more. Information can be found in the books created and collected just for you and from the staff justly proud and happy to share their culture with you.

The philosophy of the Longhouse and each of the staff is to create the opportunity for you to feel and experience a small segment of Balinese life. Learn to weave the palm leaf offering baskets found in every home shop and car, go to the market with their chef and come back to try the essentials of Balinese cooking, fly traditional kites on their breezy hillside. You can weave your life into Bali’s gentle rhythms.

Beyond the five star comfort, facilities and amenities found in so many of Bali’s luxurious villas (and this the Longhouse has in abundance) the owners offer to share with you a glimpse of their love of Bali and the surrounding islands. Each of the six bedroom suites is themed after a different island in the archipelago and incorporates native crafts and indigenous materials from that island. The Longhouse is full of surprises and opportunities. As so many guests have said: staying at the Longhouse is a wonderful experience they will never forget.
